What Sisterhood?

I think it is safe to say for most, as we age, friendships become less and less of a priority; but this is not to say they become less important. When we enter adulthood, we begin to prioritize family, finances, work, romantic partners, education and physical fitness. This means, friendships are often pushed to the side to make room for new priorities. 

Having people we feel connected to is a vital part of mental and physical health and with 58% of young adults in America claiming to not have any close connections, there is no surprise mental illness is on the rise worldwide.

We are living in a time where we have more access to communication than ever before, but less access to real, authentic, meaningful connections. Just like exercise and eating healthy, feeling apart of a community is a part of a healthy lifestyle. According to a study conducted at Brigham Young University, lack of social connection heightens health risks as much as smoking 15 cigarettes a day or having an alcohol use disorder. Read full article, click hereThe Risk of Social Isolation
