My Favourite Healthy Dal Recipe

The next time you hear someone complain about how expensive healthy food is, just share this recipe with them and they will never mention it again.

Dal is the Hindi word for lentil, and is one of the cheapest, nutrient dense, plant based protein you can find. Dal is most known in Indian cuisine, but can be cooked vastly different, depending on what part of the world you’re in.

Although the versatility with dal is endless, not all dal is made equal. This recipe is one of the most delicious and simple dals I have ever come across. Make sure to pre chop and measure out all ingredients before cooking, because frying the spices is a time sensitive matter.

Dal also freezes well and will stay good for a week in the fridge. Using a healthy oil such as coconut oil or ghee is recommended. Happy cooking!
