Social Media – Healthy or Unhealthy?

 

There is no shortage of reports on the damaging effects social media has on the brain and our emotional wellbeing, but is it possible social media can actually support a healthy and balanced mindset? 

When we talk about platforms like Instagram, we often think about supermodels and celebrities showing off their lifestyles, the constant stream of mindless nonsense, pointless memes and cyber bullies; but we rarely speak about the thousands of accounts dedicated to health and wellness. There are some incredible influencers, therapists, yogis and specialists in all fields that are using social media as a way to spread awareness, educate and inspire. What impacts would social media have on our lives if we only subscribed to meaningful accounts? 

Healthy mindset, working through trauma, balancing healthy relationships, manifesting desires and learning to process emotions are things we all need support with and often neglect. A healthy mindset takes practice and if you turn your phone into a platform for growth; every time you want to “mindlessly scroll” you end up learning something or gaining inspiration.
